Safety Sensor Alignment

Testing and positioning of photo eye sensors so the door reverses when something is in the way.

What this service covers

Photo eyes are the reason a modern door will not close on a child or a bicycle. When they drift out of alignment, get sun-blinded or corrode, the door either refuses to close or — far worse — closes without a working reversal path.

  • Sensors realigned, re-bracketed and locked at the correct height
  • Corroded wiring and failed sensor eyes replaced
  • Sun-glare and reflection issues resolved with shields or relocation
  • Full auto-reverse test on both the photo eye and the door's force setting

Safety Sensor Alignment questions

My door closes a few inches then goes back up. Why?
Almost always a blocked or misaligned photo eye, or a force setting that is too sensitive. Both are quick to correct.
How do I test auto-reverse myself?
Lay a 2x4 flat under the door and close it. The door must reverse on contact. If it does not, stop using it and call us.
